About St John's Hospice
The doors of St John’s Hospice first opened on 5th January 1986, and they have remained open for every single second since.
The doors of St John’s Hospice first opened on 5th January 1986, and they have remained open for every single second since. But it isn’t just here in Lancaster where we help patients with life-shortening illnesses and their families, we help a community of over 250,000 people all over North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire, providing vital care, both here at the hospice, and in people’s homes.
As a local charity, we receive around a third of the funding we need to run our Hospice, all the rest is fundraised by us and our wonderful supporters.
The word community is integral to every aspect of The Courtyard Café, from the volunteers who served you today, to the gardeners who grow the vegetables we use, to the local suppliers we work with to make our delicious food.
By coming to The Courtyard Café today, you are helping to support a vital local service. Thank you. We wouldn’t be here without you!
